Huckleberry Finn goes comes in his room and Pap is sitting in a chair tilted back. Huck notices window is open.
PAP: “You think you’re a good deal of a big-bug, don’t you?”
HUCK: “Maybe I am maybe I a’int”
PAP: “Don’t give me none o’ your lip… you’re educated too, they say; can read and write. You think your better’n your father, now don’t you? I’ll beat that out of you… who told you might meddle with such hifalut’n foolishness, hey?”
HUCK: “The widow”
PAP: “Well, I’ll learn her how to meddle. Your mother couldn’t read, and she couldn’t write, nuther, before she died. Say-lemme hear your read.”
Huck Finn begins to read a book which begun talking of General Washington and the wars. Within a few seconds pap knocked the book from his hand.
PAP: “It’s so. You can do it. I had my doubts when you told me. Now look at heare; you stop that putting on frills. I won’t have it….If I catch you at school I’ll tan you good”
Pap takes a little blue picture of some cows and a boy
Chapter 6:
EXT. AROUND TOWN
Pap goes to Judge Thatcher and asks for money and then thrashes Huck for going to school. Huck is locked in an old cabin house all day, sometimes even three or four days. When he was home Pap would beat Huck.
PAP: “This isn’t ain’t no government, this so called government wants to take a man’s son away from him, a man cant get his rights in a government like this. There’s a black slave roaming around all free, why isn’t he put up in an auction and sold?!”
Pap then get really drunk and starts imaging being attacked by a tramp
PAP:
"What's this?"
He tore it up and says-
PAP: I'll give you something better-I'll give you a cowhide.. I've been in town two days and heard about you getting rich
HUCK: I hadn't got no money
PAP: It's a lie. Judge Thatcher's got it. You git it. I want it..
HUCK: I hain't got no money, you ask judge Thatcher.
PAP: Alright I'll ask him..say how much money do you have in your pocket?
HUCK: I hain't got only a dollar and I want it
PAP: It don't make no difference
Chapter 7
EXT. CABIN-NIGHTTIME
Huck has fallen asleep with the gun in his hand, his father; Pap has now woken from his drunken state and found Huck with the gun.
PAP:
“GIT up! What you ’bout?”
(Huck opens his eyes, looks around, and sees Pap standing over him)
PAP:
“What you doin’ with this gun?”
HUCK:
“Somebody tried to get in, so I was laying for him.”
PAP:
“Why didn’t you roust me out?”
HUCK:
“Well, I tried to, but I couldn’t; I couldn’t budge you.”
PAP:
“Well, all right. Don’t stand there palavering all day, but out with you and see if there’s a fish on the lines for breakfast. I’ll be along in a minute.”
Huck is sent out by Pap to go see if any fish have been caught, he sees a canoe, a pretty one, and comes up with an idea, to run away down the river, with the canoe.
(Huck hides the Canoe, and then Pap finds him, and they both go fishing, and catch some fish to eat.)
(Huck & Pap go home, eat breakfast, and rest, during this time, Huck tries to figure out a way to escape without Pap and The Widow following him.)
(Pap wakes up)
PAP:
“Another time a man comes a-prowling round here you roust me out, you hear? That man warn’t here for no good. I’d a shot him. Next time you roust me out, you hear?”
(Pap falls back asleep)
END SCENE
EXT.HUCK ESCAPING-NIGHTTIME
Pap has gone into town to get something, so Huck sees this as an opportunity to escape. He begins this process by sawing his way out of the house.
(Huck is sawing his way out, and makes it out; he sees that his Pap is not too far from him, he can in fact see him on the river.)
HUCK: Well huh; there goes Pap….later Pap.
(Huck begins to gather supplies, and things for the raft, he figures that he’ll fake his own death, so he gets a pig from the woods and shoots it)
(Huck brings the pig back from the woods and smears the blood all over the place, to make it seem like he was hurt and killed.)
(Huck drags the pig everywhere and breaks down the door, to make it seem like someone broke in, he then gathers his things & leaves.)
HUCK: (Looks back at the cabin, thinks and smiles) “Good Riddance!”
(He drops the canoe down the river under some willows that hung over the bank, and waits for the moon to rise. He made fast to a willow; then he took a bite to eat, and laid down in the canoe to smoke a pipe and lays out a plan)
HUCK: “They’ll follow the track of that sackful of rocks to the shore and then drag the river for me. And they’ll follow that meal track to the lake and go browsing down the creek that leads out of it to find the robbers that killed me and took the things”
(He ponders this for a while)
HUCK: “They won’t ever hunt the river for anything but my dead carcass. They’ll soon get tired of that, and won’t bother no more about me.”
(He stops and thinks of any places he can go...)
HUCK: “All right; I can stop anywhere I want to. Jackson’s Island is good enough for me; I know that island pretty well, and nobody ever comes there. And then I can paddle over to town nights, and slink around and pick up things I want. Jackson’s Island’s the place.”
(Huck continues to go down the river, all the way to Jackson Island)
